I believe that most people are coachable at one time or another.  A person may want to change, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are also open to change. Changing things like their beliefs, actions and behaviors. Sometimes change in one area requires change in an area of discomfort that that person is not ready for.

How coachable are you?

In order to be coachable, it requires:

Humility: Humility teaches that there are things we need to do that we cannot do on our own. Or simply, we do not know how to do.

  • A Willingness to Surrender Control:   When you join CrossFit, and find a coach we often put him or her in an impossible situation. We implicitly insist that we will only give up control once we have seen results. In fact, we only get results if we are willing to give up control. Sometimes you may not always agree with your coach. Rest assured, we want you to succeed, even if the advice we are giving you is not what you thought you deserved at the time.
  • Faith: The problem with life is that it must be lived forward and only understood backwards. This is especially true when it comes to working with a coach. The benefits of change are often only obvious after the change has occurred.
  • If you can take coaching seriously, are willing to do the work and let the coach do the coaching, keep your commitment, not sabotage yourself, try new ideas and give the coaches the benefit of the doubt JOIN CrossFit PHIT.  If not, that’s ok, too.  Maybe another time! We’ll be here.
